A historic day for UK-German relations and a strong signal of transatlantic unity
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a landmark Treaty on Friendship and Bilateral Cooperation in London today. It’s the most comprehensive agreement between the two countries since the end of World War II.

The treaty strengthens UK-German cooperation across defense, foreign policy, economic, and domestic affairs — and reinforces both countries’ commitment to NATO, support for Ukraine, and a rules-based international order.
Together, Germany and the UK are stepping up as strategic partners to tackle global challenges — shoulder to shoulder with the United States and other allies.
